Medical and Clinical Laboratory Technicians
Overview
Perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. May work under the supervision of a medical technologist.

Medical laboratory technicians collect samples and perform tests to analyze body fluids, tissue, and other substances.
How to become one
Obtain an Associates and certification in Medical Laboratory Technician. Clinical laboratory technicians typically complete an Associates program in clinical laboratory science. Licensure is required in West Virginia.
High school students who are interested in becoming a clinical laboratory technologist or technician should take classes in chemistry, biology, and math.
